Second Wind or Last Gasp?
Your computer may not be ready to be put out to pasture just yet. Here are some thoughts on giving your aging computer a second wind.
If you are giving your computer away:
- Avoid identity theft and personal problems.
- Delete your personal information.
- Best to reformat the drive and reinstall software to insure personal data is not shared with strangers.
You may find reformatting and reloading cures many computer ailments and gives your computer a second wind. Perhaps extending its useful life.
If you are donating the computer:
- It should be in working condition.
- Include all the disks, CD’s and manuals along with the donated computer.
- Consider tax benefits as well as social benefits
Your old computer could be an organ donor:
- The hard drive or other components could be used in another computer to give it added capacity.
If it is time for the Bone Yard:
- Be environmentally responsible
- Call your local recycling center for proper disposal
